Day 13 – Glad it wasn’t a Friday!

imageimageWeek 2

If ever there was a difficult day, it was today. The kids are all out of school now and in definite summer holiday mode. Have I told you that my kids love to cook. All of them and that’s all they wanted to do today. We’ve made pizza, bread, salt and vinegar cashews, banana cake, chocolate souffles and sous vide pork chops. Dane was like a kid in a toy shop, seasoning the pork, packing it up and preparing the bags in the vacuum sealer.

The house has smelt like a bakery all day and the dishes……oh the dishes……so many and everywhere (so glad I have a husband for these horrible jobs…….I’d have divorced him ages ago, but who’d clean up the kitchen) and I know it’s going to be the same for the rest of the summer holiday. Eva has already requested chocolate chip cookies, flap jacks, lamb soup, bang, bang chicken and homemade treats for the horses, the dogs and the stray cats that we feed. Dane has requested cheesecake, more souffles, beef wellington, salmon, beef jerky (it’s marinating in the fridge) and I can’t remember what else. And this is all great, but they want to make most of it by themselves. Oh my kitchen………..

I got a reprieve whilst the football was on this afternoon. Everyone was glued to the screen so I used the time to listen and do my food prep. That hour and 3/4 allowed me to boil eggs, cook chicken and wash and chop all of my vegetables and fruit. I have a fridge full of chopped mango and melon, washed cherries, chopped salad, greens, peppers and zucchini, homemade salad dressings, chopped herbs and brewing orange and vanilla extract. What else was I going to do with that bottle of Bombay Sapphire that’s been sitting in my cupboard for years! Yes I am soaking vanilla pods and orange skins in it LOL. It’s grain free so paleo………. 🙂 I hear some of you shouting sacrilege. Just wait until I do something with one of the 6 bottles of champagne also sitting in my cupboard…………

Anyway, next week’s food plan is attached. Yes, you are absolutely right, it’s exactly the same as last weeks. No point in making this difficult.

Here’s what I ate….remember how many temptations I had including having my son stick a Cadbury’s Wispa under my nose.

Lemon water on waking

Breakfast – 3 fried eggs and bacon with some lightly sauteed spinach

Snack – yip, you guessed it, a mango

Lunch – Green salad with 3 boiled egg whites and a chopped green pepper with a little apple cider vinegar and a tiny piece of homemade focaccia with olive oil and garlic.

Snack – Banana, peanut butter and a teaspoon of chocolate hazelnut spread

Dinner – 2 pork chops, a little pureed steamed apple, callalloo and okra and 2 small potato wedges (check the picture….the other picture is what the girls each ate).

I didn’t even touch the souffle even though I had to spoon it out of the dish and blow on it for Quinn.

I did however munch on some of the salt and vinegar cashews when I was making them. Very delicious! Definitely eaten too much today and feeling it too. oh well. It’s not the end of the world. No sugar though 😉
