Day 18 and I tried something new

The exercising I do is pretty hardcore so I decided to try something different. I thought it would be an easy break from my normal workouts and quite relaxing……ha ha ha…….naive or what! I tried a booty barre class with Sue Merren at Balance. The sweat was dripping off me and I had to keep taking breaks. My lack of flexibility really showed me up. I hear Tarasa Barnett from Crossfit Cayman and Kate Dunne from Flow saying “I told you that you need to take time out each day to stretch”.

Stretching is difficult for me and because I do funny hours, I can’t get to stretch classes. Yip. Excuses. I’m full of them. I think my next challenge needs to be spending 30 minutes a day stretching. Anyone fancy joining me?

The barre class was really good and I definitely worked my core and hip area. Sue’s class is bang in the middle of a Saturday afternoon which is great for me so in the words of Arnie, “I’ll be back”.

So what did I eat yesterday?

It was another great day. I turned down wine and paleo brownie because I wouldn’t do the sugar. No cheats for me although I could maybe ease off of the mango…..I can’t though….it’s mango season. When they’re gone, they’re gone!

Lemon water on waking

Breakfast – mango and sweet potato protein waffles

Snack – banana and nut butter

Lunch – homemade chicken soup using bone broth and fresh coconut milk (filled with greens)

Snack – plantain chips and guacamole (a whole avocado)

Dinner – we went out for a paleo dinner with the peeps from Crossfit Cayman at Agua. I was well impressed. We took our 14 year old who gave a thumbs up too so it must have been good (although he did forgo the paleo brownie in favour of a chocolate lava cake with homemade gelato and caramel sauce LOL).

Between us, we had a shrimp ceviche, a kale salad, chicken satay, a striploin with sweet potato and vegetables and almond crusted mahi mahi with vegetables and cassava chips.

Drinks – 2 coffees, coconut water and loads of water

Maybe I overdid the carbs yesterday but when I calculated my macros (which I do occassionally although I am pretty good on portion control), I didn’t exceed my recommended daily intake to maintain my current weight – which is my goal.

Oh…..I got a compliment from a lady yesterday…….she said my abs were impressive. She could see them through my T-Shirt. 🙂 Happy old lady with 3 kids!! I must be doing something right.

    1. Don’t torture yourself. The first little while can be a bit painful. I’ve been eating a diet free from processed foods and refined flours etc for years now. I do eat sweeteners like honey, maple syrup etc. but even with a clean diet I feel it when I clean out these sweeteners for a month. Why don’t you try Kombucha or water kefir, assuming it’s in line with the health issues. It has a fizz. Alternatively, what I often do is add fruit to fizzy water. Watermelon or mango squeezed with a fork gives just the right amount of taste.

Good luck and feel free to message me if you need any tips. You’ll should feel great when you’ve past a week. Hang in there!
