Created by a former Royal Marine commando, metafit combines traditional bodyweight exercises with the latest high intensity interval training (HIIT) and Tabata techniques, working on the premise that in order to burn fat, you need to boost your resting metabolism.

metafit classThe 30 minute workouts need no kit, hardly any space and provide an intense workout in half the time, giving you the freedom to carry on with a busy lifestyle.

metafit works on the basis that 65% of calories are burnt while resting so, in order to increase calorie burn, you must increase your resting metabolic rate. It encourages your body to do this by working your muscles to failure and increasing your heart so you can carry on burning calories for up to 24 hours after the 30 minute workout.

During the 30 minute metafit workout you will burn around 150 calories, but if you work yourself to the max, you’ll continue to burn up to 500 in the next 24 hours.

Workouts begin with a five-minute warm up, similar to any aerobics class and then it’s straight into the short, high-intensity workouts, which can involve anything from push-ups and planks to burpees and squats. The number of repetitions and length of each depends on the exercise but may be as little as three repetitions with just 20 seconds of intense exercise followed by a 20 second break before the next one starts.

The idea is that you work yourself to the max because you know it won’t last for long and you will soon get a recovery period.

The 30 minute metafit workouts are bearable and because the routines change regularly, you won’t get bored.
